This project was so much fun to work on. The house is a 1970's ranch house with an urban feel. My clients wanted their white kitchen updated to a more contemporary look, as well as one that functioned better. It was also important to rearrange the space to accommodate their love of cooking and entertaining. The existing space had a powder room and small pantry with doors entering the kitchen. Those rooms were the first to go! By doing that I was able to relocate the dining room doorway so that guests are now directed away from the cooking area. The clients love this! In place of the powder room I designed several tall pantry cabinets, and a bar area that continue into a peninsula area. The flooring was a bit tricky, but beautiful. We used 12"x24" Italian ceramic tiles in a strie pattern of cream and white. Paired with the cherry cabinets and stainless appliances, the look is now more modern and definitely more functional. Design time for the project was about 8 weeks based on client's needs changing. The product wait time was about 8 weeks as well. The actual remodel was completed in 4 weeks. This included demolition, electrical, plumbing, replacing windows, and installation of product.
