For homeowners and professionals alike: Would you use a granite paint kit for your kitchen countertops? I'm curious- why or why not?

As this article says, "granite comes with a high price tag at $60 to $120 a square foot", while the granite countertop paint kit costs around $50.
The giani countertop paint kit was also featured on The Early Show in August, and it looks as though this product is gaining quite a bit of interest.

I'm seriously considering it, such a huge savings.  And it seems a bit wasteful to get rid of my old counters on a "fashion" whim.  If there is a nice way to just resurface, would be ideal, but want to make sure it will not look cheesy.  Would really like to hear from others who successfully used it before committing, though.  Anybody?

I'm not familiar enough with the product to know definitively...but the long term durability of a painted finish on a counter top would concern me - particularly in a high use area.  We often discuss the durability of different stones, with real granite always being a top choice for durability other than some of the softer counter top materials.  If budget is the real issue, I'm a fan of laminate surfaces...there continues to be more and more great looking laminate options.
